ChatGPT’s Live Caption Insights

A client of ours hosts weekly Instagram Live sessions as a way to interface with current and potential customers in an approachable format. This client has an admirable sensitivity to access and inclusion in the digital space. As such, they expressed concern over the obstacle presented with their Instagram Live sessions, which were missing closed captioning. I was tasked with sourcing a solution.

After floundering on Google and Youtube in vain, I turned to “the source of all wisdom and knowledge,” ChatGPT, to see if this new player on the scene had any answers.

Below are the recommendations:

Start a live stream: Go to your Instagram profile, tap the camera icon and select "Live" to start a live stream.

Turn on closed captions: During the live stream, tap the three dots in the top right corner of the screen and select "Turn on Live Captions."

Customize captions: You can customize the font, size, and color of the captions by tapping the three dots again and selecting "Live Captions Settings."

Note: Instagram Live Captions are currently only available in English and may not be available in all regions.

Our client implemented these suggestions and was impressed at the simplicity of the solution. To what extent will ChatGPT and other types of Artificial Intelligence become part of our daily activities in work and life? Perhaps we should ask ChatGPT what it has to say…
